Transforming My Short-Sighted Spending into Eternal Investments

When it comes to investing financially, those who are unwilling to make long-term investments are often either worried about the risk involved or are too impatient to wait for their investment to produce results. But what about spiritual investments? What about investing in my relationship with God or investing my time, my energy, maybe even my stuff so that someone else can be blessed? When I can't see immediate results, is it worth it to invest in others? Is it worth it to invest time and effort into my relationship with God?

My relationship with money can be complicated. Money can be the thing I work hardest to acquire yet complain about the most. It has potential to help me accomplish wonderful things, and it has potential to consume every aspect of my life. I’m called to trust God with my money, but I often end up trusting money to be my god. But what if I shifted my view of money and changed my relationship with it? Could transforming my relationship with money actually transform other parts of my life as well? Let’s find out together!

The Slow Fade of Misplaced Priorities

The problem with our day to day lives, money, and aspirations in this life is that if we're not careful, we can let those things consume us. We become unable to function due to worry, we end up purchasing things we don't need just to feel good about ourselves, and we walk paths that can lead to destruction if left unchecked. So how can we combat getting overwhelmed and choked out by these things and put Jesus in his rightful place in our lives? Maybe it's as simple as seeking first His Kingdom and letting God take care of the rest.

Scripture References: Luke 10:38-40, Mark 4:14-20, 1 Timothy 6:11-12, Mark 4:3-8, 1 Timothy 6:10, 1 Peter 5:7, Matthew 6:33, Luke 10:41-42

From Series: "Slow Fade"

While there are some temptations we face in life that we see immediately and deal with quickly, there are other common struggles that often creep into our lives slowly. They don't seem very strong or dangerous, and we begin to allow these things to slowly take over our hearts and dictate our actions. We might even justify our choices or try to convince ourselves "it's not a big deal." Eventually these issues become big problems that impact our relationships, our families, even our faith. How do we recognize when we are slowly fading away from our values and our faith? And how do we stop the slow fade and reverse the impact it's having on our lives?
