We may believe there is a Holy Spirit. We may believe that the Holy Spirit is still active in our world and in our lives. But even if we have an understanding of what the Holy Spirit does, how do we know He’s actually doing it? How do I grow in my awareness of the Holy Spirit’s presence and action?
From Series: "God in Us: Understanding the Holy Spirit's Presence"
What is the Holy Spirit? Is it a force? Is it a ghost? Is it my conscience? Is it some kind of nebulous, supernatural energy? The Holy Spirit is talked about throughout scripture, and yet the Holy Spirit is something (or someone) many Christians know very little about. For the next few weeks at Flagstone, we're going to dive into the mystery of Holy Spirit and discover the amazing blessings that come with having the Spirit in our lives.
We're finishing our "Known" Series with a call to action. In light of the fact that you are fully known and fully loved by God, can benefit by trying to understand yourself better to understand others better, and see how important it is to be known by a church family, what does it mean to allow OTHERS to see and know Christ by our love? Does the world see Christ in you through your service? Is the Spirit alive in you seen visibly in your life? Are you embodying Christ's sacrificial love? Jesus says in John 15:34-35 that everyone will know you follow Christ by your love for one another. We'll find some practical ways show that love for others!
One of the greatest needs that each human being has is the need to feel seen, to feel appreciated, to feel known. Feeling “unknown” and “unseen” can cause significant consequences to our emotional and physical health, as well as our spiritual health and our faith. Many of us struggle with just moving through our daily routine and wondering if anyone really knows us or notices we’re even there. We’re going to spend the next few weeks at Flagstone finding out the beautiful truth that we have a God who truly knows us, and we’re going to discover how important it is for us to try to really see and know our friends, neighbors, and family members.
