I Feel Angry

Recent surveys indicate that a majority of Americans believe the country is angrier now than a generation ago. We seem to allow our angry feelings to influence our words and our actions than maybe people in our culture used to. But anger is just a natural emotion, isn't it? Don't I have the right to get angry about things that really bother me? While most of our feelings are natural responses to circumstances around us, allowing strong emotions (like anger) to take control of our thoughts and actions can lead to a whole bunch of problems. So how do I get better at navigating my feelings when someone makes me angry?

From Series: "In My Feelings"

Anger. Fear. Joy. Sadness. We all have different feelings that we deal with on a daily basis. God has given us the gift of emotions to help us process and react to things that we experience. Sometimes we have a healthy emotional response to certain situations, and sometimes our emotions get the best of us. For the next few weeks at Flagstone we are going to discover how to get a better handle on our emotions and use them for God’s purposes.

It's My Inability to Forgive

So many feuds between families and friends, so many conflicts between nations, so many squabbles between couples could possibly be prevented if one or both parties would choose to forgive the other. And yet the core issue that causes distance and disconnection in many relationships is an inability, or maybe just an unwillingness, to forgive. How do I truly forgive someone who has caused me pain? And how does holding onto bitterness impact my relationships?

Scripture References: James 5:16, Psalms 51:3, Luke 17:5, Colossians 3:13, Hebrews 12:15, Ecclesiastes 7:9, Matthew 5:44-45, Galatians 5:1, Ephesians 4:31

From Series: "It's Not You, It's Me"

In any relationship there will inevitably be flaws and shortcomings to endure. Whenever a relationship becomes unhealthy, it is not uncommon to try to point out the other person’s failures or accuse them of being the source of the problem. But what if it’s me? What if there is something that I could improve about myself that would improve this connection? We’re going to spend the next several weeks at Flagstone taking an honest look at ourselves and discovering what we personally can be doing to improve the health of our relationships.
