Joseph's Quiet "Song"

After the final Christmas songs fade in Luke 1–2, a storm begins to gather around the newly born Son of God. The joy of angels gives way to danger, and the fate of Jesus—and His family—rests largely in the hands of His earthly father, Joseph. As Herod schemes to destroy every boy two years old and under, Joseph responds with quiet, decisive faith, following God’s direction without hesitation in the latter half of Matthew 2. So what can we learn from Joseph’s quiet song of faith—one sung not with words, but with obedience?

From Series: "Christmas Playlist"

What songs are on your Christmas playlist? “All I Want for Christmas Is You”? “Last Christmas”? Or maybe something a little more classic like “Jingle Bells” or “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”? Christmas playlists help us enjoy the holiday season with songs dedicated to Santa Claus and sleigh rides and winter wonderlands. But there are also several Christmas songs that help focus our thoughts on the birth of Jesus. Actually the Bible itself shares multiple songs that announced and celebrated the arrival of the Son of God into our world. This Christmas season at Flagstone, we are going to discover those ancient “Christmas Playlists,” and we are going to recognize that the messages conveyed in those celebrations still contain truths for us today.

Known By Our Love

We're finishing our "Known" Series with a call to action. In light of the fact that you are fully known and fully loved by God, can benefit by trying to understand yourself better to understand others better, and see how important it is to be known by a church family, what does it mean to allow OTHERS to see and know Christ by our love? Does the world see Christ in you through your service? Is the Spirit alive in you seen visibly in your life? Are you embodying Christ's sacrificial love? Jesus says in John 15:34-35 that everyone will know you follow Christ by your love for one another. We'll find some practical ways show that love for others!

One of the greatest needs that each human being has is the need to feel seen, to feel appreciated, to feel known. Feeling “unknown” and “unseen” can cause significant consequences to our emotional and physical health, as well as our spiritual health and our faith. Many of us struggle with just moving through our daily routine and wondering if anyone really knows us or notices we’re even there. We’re going to spend the next few weeks at Flagstone finding out the beautiful truth that we have a God who truly knows us, and we’re going to discover how important it is for us to try to really see and know our friends, neighbors, and family members.
