Christmas time has the potential to give us lots of surprising moments. We might receive a gift we didn‘t expect, the weather can change on us almost instantly, a relative may show up unexpectedly at a family gathering. When we look at the story of the birth of Jesus, we see lots of unexpected moments as well. At Flagstone this Christmas, we are going to discover (or re-discover) some of the surprises surrounding the arrival of a newborn baby in the small town of Bethlehem.

Scripture Gives Me Hope

Rooted: Building a Stronger Connection to Scripture

Many of us have had to deal with our own measure of disappointments - plans that fell through, promises that were broken, expectations that led to let-downs. Enough disappointing experiences can cause us to become cynical and to think that there's nothing worth really believing in. But when it comes to God's Word, we find something we can trust because the promises made in scripture are promises that God keeps. So what are the things scripture tells me I can expect from a relationship with God? And how do I grow in my hope that God will actually do the things He has promised?

Scripture References: Genesis 39:20-23, Hebrews 11:1, 1 Peter 1:3-5, Revelation 21:1-5, Romans 8:18-25

From Series: "Rooted: Building a Stronger Connection to Scripture"

Maybe I've never actually read the Bible before. Maybe I've read bits and pieces but never really let the words sink in. Maybe I used to read it often, but now it's a book I rarely pick up. No matter what your past experience with God's Word has been, we invite you to join us on a journey to revisit scripture (or maybe dive in for the first time) as we discover why the words of this ancient book are still so relevant for us today.
